Once in a while I'll come across a list on "Where to photograph in Ottawa?" Well... why not try the steps on Parliament Hill? So many happy faces, so much pride and just a lot of fun.

For me this is a no-brainer. I won't however tell you which one I'd choose or why. I'll leave that question for you to answer for yourself.

This type of photograph is so common, so cliché. Still I often see myself as this young boy on the steps of the First Baptist Church on Laurier Avenue W.

I thought I'd change things up a bit by posting this photograph of the

American Photographer - Irving Penn

I'd like to say that over the years that I've been influenced by certain photographers but that really isn't true. It's only in the last few years with my initiation to Youtube that I really started finding out about many of the great photographers.

In early days I read many many books on photography but more of the "how-to" variety and many of the photographs that I saw while flipping pages, embedded themselves in memory. This is one of those photographs.

It is estimated that over 2 billion pictures are taken everyday but of those 2 billion, just how many of them etch themselves into your soul and move you? To me, that's the difference between a picture and a photograph.

This is one of my all-time favourite photographs.

Bank of Canada

Bank of Canada - Ottawa 24.05.2017

The Bank of Canada is one impressive building and when I get a good mix of light and a subject, I'm a happy camper.

The simplicity of this image is what does it for me. It's speaks of the working class, the foundation and strength of our nation.

Sometimes a photograph "is just there", I didn't look for it and it came when I least expected it. More often than not it's at the end of an outing as I work my way home.

I always think of the honour one must feel while standing guard at the National War Memorial and even more so on the 100th anniversary of Vimy Ridge

Ivstitia - Supreme Court of Canada - Ottawa

Today was an incredibly beautiful day to be outside and as I walked by the Supreme Court building on Wellington, I couldn't help but think how this "One Way" sign was pointing to justice. ( Ivstitia, the statue and the Supreme Court of Canada building )
